Interactive Work.
In 2009, I co-founded Float SF. Float SF is a leader in the development of cutting edge visual and interactive experiences. Their background as a design and development partner with the Microsoft Kinect team and their team of visual effects and videogame specialists, including Academy Award winners, places them in a unique position to deliver high visual quality consumer experiences that enable consumers to interact with brands in new and exciting ways.
I was one of the two founding partners of Float in 2009/2010, which included my primary partner and co-founder John Gaeta, the Academy Award winning Visual Effects Designer for "The Matrix" and the associated sequels. In late 2009, the two of us had the opportunity to bridge Film VFX into real time graphics, with an opportunity to help Microsoft develop visually cinematic and interactive experiences on their emergent interactive platform, "Project Natal," which eventually became the Kinect. In pursuing these goals, we eventually created a multidisciplinary team that has since been joined by the best in the VFX, game, and interactive fields. In 2012, Float has grown the team to 20 artists and engineers, and has more recently brought in some of our associates in the film industry, Cliff Plumer, former CEO of Digital Domain/CTO of ILM, and his management group. This new leadership core, along with an expanding staff of artists, designers and engineers, is now expanding Float's effort around innovations in sensor devices, connected devices, and content along several lines for Microsoft and other clients, which include HP, Pepsi, McDonalds, and others. Listed below are some of the projects and investigations that Float has been involved with. Seeing that they're in constant development with technology partners on several tracks and some of these are yet to be released, I've omitted some of their more proprietary endeavors from the list. |
